Support Groups
A self help support group for people of all ages (EDGE) meets on the first, third and fourth Thursday of each month 126 Osmaston Road, Derby from 7pm until 9pm. Families and friends are welcome to go along to get support from other people in the same situation and to learn about the illness from other sufferers at varying degrees of recovery.
We run Yoga and relaxation sessions every Wednesday at 126 Osmaston Road from 7.30-8.30 and all are welcome to attend. These sessions are of a very low intensity aimed at beginners. The sessions utilize relaxation and guided imagery to aid anxiety, stress and sleep deprivation. Sessions are not aimed at increasing body muscle mass and losing weight.
First Steps’ support group for people aged 12-25 (Inspire Action) meet every Wednesday between 6pm and 8.30pm at 126 Osmaston Road, Derby - this service is run by service users via our Young Person’s Steering Group. From 6-7pm we cover a topic such as self esteem, assertiveness, coping strategies and body image. 7.30-8.15pm is time for Yoga and Relaxation (see above)

· Art sessions (potato printing, T-shirt design, Finger painting, self-portraits)

We are also have Hypnotherapy classes every other Tuesday from 7-8pm at a cost of £2.50 per session. Space is limited, so booking in advance is recommended; places will be allocated on a first come firsts served basis. Dates of sessions are: 5 & 19 January / 2 & 16 Feb / 2 & 16 March / 2,16 & 30 April / 4 & 18 May 2010. Hypnotherapy has been recognized as very powerful method for personal development. In fact, it is known to have been in use for the past 6,000 years! Today, people use the power of hypnosis to help deal with a vast range of problems. You are deeply relaxed and calm, aware of everything happening around you. It is a pleasant and enjoyable state, very similar to daydreaming or drifting off to sleep. You will feel wonderfully relaxed and you may find that your sleep will be of a much better quality.
