This service is helping me, after years of struggling, to finally free myself from my illness
Having a Befriender has helped me to move from the point of recovery and change to actually recovery and beginning to fight against my illness, as she has provided me with a continual source of motivation, encouragement, hope and support. Throughout the time she has been emailing, she has helped me to feel re-connected to the world and a lot less isolated by talking about ‘normal’ things, helped me to set and achieve many goals, as well as helping me to work logically through issues surrounding my eating disorder, which has been beneficial as she has prompted me through questions to query my behaviours and attitudes. I can not thank my befriender enough for the time she has devoted to me as for me, this service has provided a respite and is helping me, after years of struggling, to finally free myself from my illness.'
