It was a huge relief to talk with people who actually understand how I feel

"Just over a year ago I was referred to First Steps. It was a huge relief to talk with people who actually understand how I feel.  Also, as I deteriorated, it was the Young Person's Coordinator who fought for me to access the support I needed, which was inpatient treatment.  While I was an inpatient, First Steps kept in touch via internet, text and letters - the group made me lots of motivational posters for my wall - and they also visited me.  Having recently come out of inpatient treatment, it is a very difficult transition time and the NHS services did not offer me any appointments until 2 weeks after my discharge.  Danielle is being really supportive and helping me to get any additional support I need.  First Steps has provided loads of support including support groups, lots of fun, loads of amazing friendships, one to one sessions, dramatherapy, trips out, understanding, confidence building and helped me to feel like I am not alone as I know there are others who really do understand how I feel and who support me.  They are willing to fight with me to get any additional support I need to recover.  It is also great to be able to mutually support each other and to be able to help others in the group in their recovery wherever I can."
